positions to stand and be recognized and noted that only members can vote in today’s board
election.
- The new website – iowaartists.org – will be up on May 1, 2024. The newsletter can be found on the website, and will be mailed to the members without computer access.
- Regional show participation by members was up from last year in most regions and she provided data.
- Des Moines Art Festival, June 28-30. Iowa Artists is submitting an application for a booth at the Arts Festival and will be asking members to help fill the 4 hour volunteer slots during the 3-day event.
- The SE Iowa Art Hop will display member’s art in three galleries: Burlington, Washington and Fort Madison. Blue Ribbon art pieces from today are automatically included. Members can submit up to 3 pieces (including pieces that were included in this year’s Regional Shows) and will be juried. If an artist has more than one piece, the pieces will be exhibited in the same gallery. Artists are responsible for delivering and picking up their art.
- There will be an On-Line Show in the first part of 2025. There was positive feedback about the critiques that artists received from the last On-Line Show.
Fruetel introduced members who were running for positions on the board and asked members to get a ballot and vote after the meeting. Newsletter Editor Haley McAndrews encouraged members to contact her for ideas on articles, and Ginny Schaffer, who is running for the Board, would like to help with setting up workshops and welcomes ideas.
Kathy Strohl is leaving the board, was presented with a plaque and recognized for her work.
The meeting reconvened at 1:10 pm.
