Acrylic Painting Loose and Free

Are you taking yourself and your art too seriously? 
Have you become obsessed with perfection? Has painting become hard, or worse, a chore? Do you ever feel your work isn’t “good” enough? Have you lost that “spark” when approaching a blank canvas? Let’s work on that together!

New to acrylic (or any) painting?
This is a great place to start! We’ll start with some very basic fundamentals about color and composition, and then move on to the FUN STUFF! We’ll experiment with color, texture, mark making, scraping, runs, drips, splatter, and other techniques as we tap our creative/playful nature using acrylic paint and all kinds of unconventional “tools”. We’ll end up with a perfectly imperfect 16×20 floral painting!

CLASS IS FREE TO IOWA ARTIST MEMBERS

CLASS FEE FOR NON-MEMBERS: $25 (includes a one-year membership to Iowa Artists)

MATERIALS FEE (ALL CLASS PARTICIPANTS): $20 (paid to instructor at workshop)

ALL SUPPLIES WILL BE PROVIDED, including a 16×20 professional grade gallery wrap canvas, acrylic paint and brushes.

YOU NEED TO BRING a bag lunch and whatever you want to drink.

WE WILL GET MESSY, so plan to wear something old, or bring an apron or old shirt to protect your clothing!

YOU WILL LEAVE with your ready-to-hang 16×20 floral masterpiece, a wide, long-handled brush, a chip brush and a smile.

CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED TO 12 PARTICIPANTS, SO REGISTER EARLY.
