Art Podcasts

I’m a bit late to the podcast game, I’ll admit it. But I have come across a few art-themed shows that I enjoy listening to on occasion.

Hands down my favorite podcast is the Moms Who Create Podcast. I listen to the new episode every week, and am active in the Facebook group as well. I’ve gotten to know the host outside of the podcast (I illustrated her second children’s book.) Each show features a different creative mom, who talks about her journey balancing parenthood and creative pursuits.

The National Endowment from the Arts has a podcast called Art Works Podcast. I haven’t listened to every episode, but they talk with artists, galleries, and other people involved in encouraging the arts. One episode I listened to, for example, interviewed a philanthropist who funded a performing arts center in Florida, and they discussed why the arts were so important to her.

Recently I came across the Art History for All Podcast, and have really enjoyed the few episodes I’ve listened to so far. Each episode is about a single piece of art. The host describes the selected famous artwork, talks about the artist who created it, and why it’s so relevant.

As a bonus, there’s an episode of the Iowa Podcast where they speak with the director of the Des Moines Art Center, and that was quite an interesting one to hear.

Do you listen to podcasts or shows while you are creating, or have any other art-themed podcasts you would recommend? I’d love to hear what you think in the comments below!
